Well of course, it is BEN ABBOTTS in Bromley, even though he came second, though we should not forget Trish Law and Dai Davies in Blaenau Gwent too.
Well done to everyone who took part.
After a day of unremittingly bad news for the Conservatories, a whole troupe of them came on the radio and the telly to say:
"It's not fair! It's not our fault!"
Leading off was Conservatory Aunt Francis Maude, promising to drive change "faster wider and deeper". Someone should remind Aunt Maude that when you are in a hole, faster and deeper is NOT the way you want to go!
Later Mr Balloon himself weighed in, breaking one of the rules of story management: "don't keep a bad news story going".
It is a funny thing, but in Bromley the Liberal Democrats got MORE votes in the by-election than they did in the general election. You would think if they were putting people off from voting, then their vote would have gone down too.
Perhaps it is venal self-serving greedy lazy people – people who want to do FOUR paid jobs when most folks struggle to get by on one, or who cannot be bothered to fill their forms in truthfully – perhaps it is THAT sort of people who put off voters.
Did anyone lose lots of votes from the general election last year?
Here is another interesting thought: if you are supposed to be attracting all the Liberal Democrat voters, do you think that it is a GOOD IDEA or a BAD IDEA to be attacking the Liberal Democrats?
